The second Bill Silvey inter-club memorial tournament held at Sanderstead LTC on Sunday 14th September was another great success, so thank you to everyone who came along to show their support. Although there weren’t quite as many entrants as last year, the standard of play was once again very high and the matches were great to watch. There was good support from the parents which created a really lovely atmosphere, and the weather was fantastic too.
There were a total of 14 juniors representing a few of our local clubs – I’m pleased to say that nearly half of them were from Sanderstead! Everyone played against each other in a round robin format, and the overall winners were Danielle Hack (Sanderstead and South Croydon) and Jack Murray (South Croydon), so congratulations to them in particular. In second place was last year’s winner Yash Senjit and his new partner Nadia Alting von Geusau, and in third place was Alice Kirk & Marcus Whelan both from Sanderstead. The winners were presented with the Bill Silvey trophy by our Chairman, David Platonoff.
A big thank you to Mark Love from MDL Coaching for organising all the entrants – together with the coaches – and for running the day. Thank you also to Derek for showing great multi-tasking skills by manning the bar and taking photographs at the same time (a few of which are enclosed – more will be posted on the website shortly).
All in all, another very successful and entertaining day – and one we hope to repeat for many years to come!
