We were so lucky that the rain held off for us, enabling all matches to be played.
Thanks to Joe Hayward for organising the day, to all the umpires, to Suzanne Connor who prepared a lovely hot lunch (even though she wasn’t there on the day), to Chris Platonoff & Val Colombo for the scones & cakes and being on kitchen duty, to Bernie Hill for being the official photographer, to Graham Baxter & Rick Simmons for manning the bar and to all the supporters who cheered on the finalists. And, last but not least, to all the players who gave us a great day of tennis to watch. Well done to all of you for reaching the finals and congratulations to the champions.
I would just like to add a special congratulations to Di Ralston, who (and she won’t thank me for this) is our oldest playing lady at the Club and it is fantastic that she is not only still playing but reached a final. An inspiration to us all!
