Autumn Finals Day 2016

Despite being a rather gloomy day, those of us who came and supported the finalists enjoyed watching some great tennis. After a marathon and very close men’s vets match, lasting around 2 hours, the other matches weren’t quite so close, but good none the less.

My thanks to all those who contributed to the running of the day, without whose help these events wouldn’t be so successful: Joe Hayward, for organising the day. Suzanne Connor, for providing the lunch. The cake makers: Chris Platonoff and Charlotte Trzcinska. The kitchen helpers: Val Colombo and Clare Wooldridge, and anyone else I may have inadvertently left out. Also, thanks to those of you who came and supported the finalists. It’s always good to have spectators cheering on the players.

LADIES VETS DOUBLES: Kirstie Archer & Sue Manton beat Charlotte Trzcinska & Carrie Askew 6-4, 6-2

MIXED DOUBLES: Carrie Askew & Chris Watson beat Patience Brown & Jason Giust 6-0, 6-3

U45 MEN’S DOUBLES: Lewis Ridley & Myles Griffith beat Jason Giust & Tim Jopling 6-3, 7-6
