Despite being a rather gloomy day, those of us who came and supported the finalists enjoyed watching some great tennis. After a marathon and very close men’s vets match, lasting around 2 hours, the other matches weren’t quite so close, but good none the less.
My thanks to all those who contributed to the running of the day, without whose help these events wouldn’t be so successful: Joe Hayward, for organising the day. Nicola Hawes, for assisting and taking some of the photos. The umpires: Joe Hayward, Dana Morin, Chris Hicks and Charlotte Trzcinska. Graham Baxter, for manning the bar. Suzanne Connor, for providing the lunch. The cake makers: Chris Platonoff and Charlotte Trzcinska. The kitchen helpers: Val Colombo and Clare Wooldridge, and anyone else I may have inadvertently left out. Also, thanks to those of you who came and supported the finalists. It’s always good to have spectators cheering on the players.
Very well done to all those who reached the finals and congratulations to the winners.
