Fun table tennis tournament for adults

The club’s first ‘social’ table tennis evening on 17th January was a great success and enjoyed by all who entered!

A total of 18 people signed up, and after setting out both tables in the hall and finalising all the rules …. play began in earnest!  The format was a round-robin one where everyone partnered someone different for each match, and winners split each time so that the games and scores were fairly even.  There was a lot of jostling, running around catching balls and banter between the players, but happily no injuries or damage to equipment!

After a few rounds all the scores were added up and we then went into the quarter & semi finals.  The final was a closely contested one between David & Chris Platonoff vs Ian Christie & Charlotte Trzcinska.  It was a great match to watch and in the end Ian & Charlotte won – so congratulations to them!!  They went away with a bottle of Prosecco and a little trophy – which incidentally was a mixed doubles table tennis trophy first presented at the club many years ago!

I think I can safely say that it was a lot of fun and there was also some healthy competition – which made for a great evening of entertainment.  I’m sure all the spectators will also agree.  Thanks to Dana Morin for organising it …. watch this space for the next one in a few months’ time!!  Anyone who didn’t sign up for this one should definitely consider entering next time!  Below are a few photos taken on the night.

Following a few requests, a similar evening for the older juniors and their parents has been organised for Friday 28th February.
