Autumn finals day Oct 2013

Congratulations to the winners of the Autumn tournaments and hard luck to those who came 2nd!

Thanks to all the spectators who braved the cold and windy weather to come along and watch the players (and particularly to the umpires Charlotte, Mike, Lesley and Chris H who did a great job). To Suzanne and Dee for the delicious soup and apple crumble – and anyone else who helped with the food. Thanks also to Derek and Marilyn for manning the bar as usual (we will really miss them when they leave!) and to all the organisers in the background who helped make the day a success – especially Patience, Nicola, Chris H & Graham. Final thanks to Clive Baker and Derek for taking all the photos, some of which can be viewed at the end of this post.

Unfortunately Sue Griffiths was not available to present the Rose Bowl trophy to the mixed winners this year, but she sent her best and will hopefully be able to come along next year. Thank you to Shirley Khoja for waiting around after the rain delay and presenting the Mens Vets trophy.

Ladies Vets Doubles:

Ginnie Stone & Patience Brown beat Carrie Askew & Chris Platonoff 6-3, 6-2

Mens Vets Doubles:

Peter Wray & Fio Marconi beat Colin Doran & David Platonoff 6-4, 6-7, 6-1
