Summer Finals Day 2015

What another fantastic finals day!!! I’m sure I said this last year, but I think this one trumps them all! There was a wonderful crowd who created a great atmosphere, and the tennis was thrilling – lasting no less than 9 hours! A total of 15 matches took place, involving 44 players. I’m sure you will agree that the trophy table looked spectacular, and even the weather was perfect for both players & spectators! Firstly, some thank yous – once again there were lots of people involved in making the day so successful…..

Firstly to Joe Hayward, who pretty much organised the whole day! Then to the chefs, bakers and kitchen helpers (mainly Jim, Mike & Maureen for the BBQ and Marilyn, Ginnie & Chris P for the cakes & scones), bar tenders (Derek, Marilyn, Graham, Bernadette and possibly others), umpires (Joe, Lesley, Fio, Charlotte, Chris W, Steph, Suzanne & Rob), photographer (Derek) and most especially the tennis committee (Joe, Patience and Nicola in particular). A special thank you to Chris Watson for once again arranging all the junior matches – it is great having these talented youngsters participate in our club tournaments alongside the adults, and they make a great addition to the day (including bringing along lots of supporters!!).

As you can see from some of these results, there were lots of close, hard fought matches!
